Amirthi Zoological Park is located in Vellore city in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu was established in the year 1967. It is existent at a distance of nearly 25 kms away from Vellore. This park occupies an area measuring 25 hectares and is enriched with attractive waterfalls. While half of this zoological park has been designed as a tourist destination, the other half has been successfully planned as a wildlife sanctuary. During public holidays, the zoological park witnesses a marked rise in the rates of footfall. Children can enjoy spending some leisurely time at the seesaws and swings which have been erected here. Several species of trees and plants are also existent in the zoo, apart from some sandalwood trees.

The Amirthi Zoological Park displays diverse fauna involving Peacock, Monkey, Indian Fox, Spotted Deer, Hedgehog, Wild Cat, Mongoose, Rabbit, Crocodile, Indian Python, Red Headed Parrots, Pigeon, Duck, Eagle, Tortoise, Love Bird and many others.
This zoological garden is present under the Javadi Hills of the region of Tellai, close to the Amirthi River. It is an ideal place and a dream locale for wildlife lovers, children and even nature enthusiasts.
