History of Mongupethanpatty According to history Mongupethanpatty remained under the Nayak rulers during 17th century. Later during the 18th century Hyder Ali occupied the village. In the year 1985 the village was withdrawn from Madurai District. It was then united with Dindigul district. Economy of Mongupethanpatty Agriculture had been the main source of income till the 90's in Mongupethanpatty. However, after a major drought in 2000 majority of the population shifted to other towns and cities such as Kerala, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Hyderabad and others. The village has almost 150 families.
