Sreenarayanapuram Mahavishnu is one of the ancient Vishnu temples in South India. More popular as Sreenarayanapuram Temple, it is located in the Kerala state of India. It is located around 4 km from the town of Adoor in a small yet scenic village named Manankala. The temple is more than 1000 years old. The temple is known for the annual Dasavatarachartu festival.
Significance of Sreenarayanapuram Temple
The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is also known as Sree Narayana Murthy. It is visited by many devotees from far off places who come here to offer their worship to the Lord and receive his blessings. It is said that the murthy came from Thuravoor Mahakshetram. The calm and peaceful ambience of the temple makes it a perfect place for any religious activity.
Festivals of Sreenarayanapuram Temple
Sreenarayanapuram Temple organizes many festivals that are celebrated on a grand scale. During these occasions, the temple is beautifully decorated with lights and flowers. One of the most famous festivals celebrated every year by the temple is known as Dasavatarachartu festival. The festival is celebrated for ten days. Each day one Avatar of Mahavishnu from Dasavatara is worshiped by the people. Sreenarayanapuram is one of the few Vishnu temples in Kerala where a Dasavatarachartu festival is conducted.
