History of Shri Savatthi Teerth
The historical details of Shri Savatthi Khakhar Teerth state that it was a very ancient place. The idol of the Lord was installed in the temple on the eleventh day of the bright half of the month of Magha in the years 2046 and 2048 of the Vikram Samvat Era. It was done under the auspicious hands of the revered Acharyadev Jinchandrasurishvarji Maharaj Saheb and His Holiness Monk Sharadchandravijayji. The 18 acres of land for the temple was donated by a shepherd of Bavla, Sheth Shri Chhaganbhai and the family of Gokalbhai Parmar. The idol of Lord Sambhavnath is believed to possess miraculous powers. The temple is visited by thousands of devotees from far off places. They come here to offer their prayers to the Lord and receive his blessings. It is believed that if prayed with all devotion the Lord fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims.

The idol of Lord Sambhavnath can be seen here in the temple of Shri Savatthi Teerth. It has been brilliantly decorated with intricate artistic designs that enhance the look of the temple. The creative works of the craftsmen depicts their skills. The walls and pillars of the temple are adorned with specimens of ancient art and paintings. The temple is located in a vast compound. It is almost 200 ft. long and 108 ft. high. This impressive temple stands on 1111 pillars and has 84 idols installed here. Such a huge sanctuary of 21 ft. by 21 ft exists in no other temple. The idol of the Lord is 126 cm in height and is seated in padmasana posture. The idol has been carved out of a single stone and looks stunning. The divine face of the Lord looks very calm and serene. Apart from this there are six large temples here. In the first temple the idols of Padmavati Devi, Amba Mata and Mahalaxmi Mata has been installed. The second temple houses the idol of Lord Shantinath. In the third temple one can see the idols of Shankheshvar Parshvanatha and in the fourth temple the idol of Bhagwan Rishabh Dev. The fifth temple houses the idol of Lord Mahavira and the sixth temple houses the idols of Gautam Swami, Sudharma Swami and Kalikalasarvajna Hemchandracharya. There is Samadhi Mandir of Sadhaviji Prashamprabhashriji located in front of the temple.
The Temple of Shri Savatthi Teerth organizes many annual gatherings and functions that are celebrated with much enthusiasm. There are provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims that are well equipped with all modern facilities. There are also facilities for Upashrays, Ayambilshala and Jnanabhandar for the pilgrims. The teerth being situated amidst beautiful natural surroundings of the village attracts many pilgrims. The surrounding greenery and the beauty of the teerth mesmerize and fascinate the pilgrims. The calm and tranquil village environment makes it a perfect place for religious activities and also for meditation. The kshetra is well connected to road, rail and air. Taxi services and bus services are easily available here. This temple on the Ahmedabad Palitana highway is at a distance of 39 kilometers from Ahmedabad and four kilometers from Bavla.
