The Princely State of Jetpur was considered as one of the Sixth Class State. The succession of the throne of Jetpur state was governed by the rule of equal division. As a result, the princely state included various smaller estates. The princely state of Jetpur included 28 Talukdars in the year 1921 and around 25 Talukdars in the year 1940. the native ruler of the state held the title of Vala. After the independence of India in the year 1947, the princely state of Jetpur was acceded to the newly formed Union of India, also known as Dominion of India, alsong with the other native states of the Kathiawar Agency. Almost all of the states were merged to form the Bombay state, which was later divided to created the modern Indian states of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
