Pookot Lake is a natural fresh water lake that is surrounded by meadows on all sides. Boating is allowed. It is located half way from Calicut and around half an hour ahead of Kalpetta. Pookot Lake is around 13 kms from Kalpetta
Near the lake is a Sree Narayana Ashram. There is also a children's park and garden nearby. It is one of the most beautiful tourist spot in the whole of Wayanad. The lake nestles in the lap of mountains that are surrounding it. The dense forests that line along the pathway around the lake provide a visual treat. An added attraction is a freshwater aquarium with a large variety of fishes in it which is managed by the Fisheries department. Several facilities have been arranged by district Tourism Promotion council. Boating facilities, Children's Park and shopping centre for handicrafts and spices of Wayanad are arranged by District Tourism Promotion Council.
