45th Indian Infantry Brigade

The 45th Indian Infantry Brigade was formed under the British Empire in India as an infantry formation for service in the Second World War. It was raised under the administrative authority of the British Indian Army at Ahmednagar, Maharashtra in June 1941. It remained in active service till the year 1942. It was initially attached with the 17th Indian Infantry Brigade.

Later in January 1942, the infantry brigade was allotted to the formation of the Malaya Command and fought in the Battle of Malaya. The troops took part in the Battle of Muar where it suffered heavy casualties. In February 1942, the remaining troops of the 45th Indian Infantry Brigade came under the administration of the Australian 8th Division. It participated in the Battle of Singapore in the South East Asian theatre of World War II. Along with the rest of the garrison, the brigade surrendered to the Japanese forces on 15 February 1942.
