The Vaitarna Dam is divided into three parts. According to flow of Vaitarna River - Upper Vaitarna Dam, Lower Vaitarna Dam and Middle Vaitarna Dam are the three parts of Vaitarna Dam. Upper Vaitarna Dam is a scenic dam site, located about 20 km from Khodala, in Thane District. The Vaitarna Dam is considered as the main source of water in Mumbai. A massive lake is surrounded with thick woods that form the prime attraction here.
