Kanpur Airport is also known as Chakeri Airport. Air India Regional (formerly Alliance Air) controls regular daily flights 6 times a week using a new 48-seater ATR-42 Turboprop between Kanpur and Delhi domestic terminals. The airport is connected to all metros, major cities and international destinations. Air India also plans to deploy a larger aircraft in this sector.
The Kanpur Airport is undergoing increased passenger traffic since 2007. Many airlines have also expressed their interest in launching flight operations. The airport authority is also planning to install the night landing facility. Civil Aviation Ministry has also taken initiative to place a multi crore modernisation programme for Kanpur Airport.
