The Sikh temples or the Gurudwaras are some of the beautiful construction in the world. The word gurdwara means "the doorway to the Guru" and it is the place of worship. Following are the famous Sikh Temples in India:
Gurudwara Hari Mandir Sahib: Hari Mandir Sahib Gurudwara is the most famous Gurudwara in India. It is situated at Amritsar and this Gurudwara is popular by the name of Golden Temple. There are four gates in Golden Temple which represents that Sikhs believes people from all walks of life.
Gurudwara Baba Atal Sahib: This sacred temple is one of the best Gurudwaras in India. This nine-storied towers architecture is different from the other Sikh temples in India. It was built between 1778 and 1784 and since then, it has been visited by devotees.
Takht Sri Damdama Sahib: Damdama Sahib is also one of the Takhts of Sikhism and is historically significant place too because it is the place where Guru Gobind Singh wrote Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. It is the same place where Guru ji tested the conviction of Singhs also.
Takht Sri Patna Sahib: Takht Sri Patna Sahib is situated at Patna. The Gurudwara was built in the remembrance of Guru Gobind Singh by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1780.
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib: It is situated at Delhi. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was built between the 17th and the 18th century. This Gurudwara was built to honour the stay of 8th Sikh Guru Har Krishan here.
Gurudwara Majnu ka Tila: This Gurudwara is situated at North Delhi close to ISBT Kashmiri Gate. It is considered as the oldest Sikh temple in Delhi. It is believed that the shrine is named after a hill where Majnu met Guru Nanak.
Gurudwara Mattan Sahib: Gurudwara Mattan Sahib is located at Anantnag-Pahalgam Road. The Gurudwara Mattan Sahib was built on the place of ruined temples. It is today one of the most popular holy places in Kashmir and apart from Sikh devotees Brahmins also pay worship here.
Gurudwara Chhevin Patshahi Thara Sahib: Gurudwara Chhevin Patshahi Thara Sahib was built to honour the visit of the 6th Sikh guru, Guru Har Gobind Singh. This holy place of worship is located at Singhapura Village, which is close to Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir.
Gurudwara Sehra Sahib: Gurudwara Sehra Sahib is located at Sultanpur Lodhi City in Punjab. It is believed that Har Gobind Singhs Sehra ritual took place here. Therefore the Gurudwara built here was named as Gurudwara Sehra Sahib.
Takhat Sachkhand Shri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Gurudwara: It is considered to be one of the five takhts in Sikhism. Takhat Sachkhand Shri Huzur Abchalnagar Sahib Gurudwara is located at Nanded. It is believed to be the same place where the 10th Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh, breathed his preceding.
Gurudwara Nanak Jhira Sahib: It is one of the most significant Gurudwaras in India and is located at Bidar, Karnataka. Today the Gurudwara is swarmed by a large number of devotees thrice in a year in Holi, Dusshera and Guru Nanaks Birthday.
Gurudwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib: Hemkunt Sahib is situated in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand and is famous for its architecture. Dedicated to the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Sahib, Gurudwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib is situated at a height of more than 4000 metres above sea level. It is a star-shaped Gurudwara which has been especially designed for keeping a view to weather.
Gurudwara Rewalsar: It was built to honour Guru Gobind Sahib. Gurudwara Rewalsar is located at Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. It is said that the Gurudwara was constructed in the same place where Guru Gobind Sahib met Raja Siddh Sen of Mandi.
Gurudwara Naduan: Gurudwara Dasvin Patshahi is located at Nadaun, which is a village in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. This holy place was built in the remembrance of the second battle fought by Guru Gobind Singh.
Gurudwara Shri Narayan Hari: It is popular as Manikaran Sahib. Gurudwara Shri Narayan Hari is located at Manikaran, which is about 45 kilometres from Kullu. The Gurudwara is the end result of 50 years of constant struggle put by Baba Narayan Hari.
Gurudwara Mandi: Gurudwara Guru Gobind Singh Ji is located at Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. This Gurudwara stands as a representation of the pledge given by Guru ji to the Raja of Mandi.
Gurudwara Sri Paonta Sahib: This Gurudwara is among the most famous Gurudwaras in India. It is located at Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh. A significant Sikh pilgrimage site, Paonta Sahib got its name from the truth that Guru Gobind Singh set his foot here.
Gawri Ghat Sahib: Gurudwara Gawri Ghat Sahib is located at the bank of sacred river Narmada at Gawri Ghat in Jabalpur. Gawri Ghat Sahib is one of the most famous Gurudwara in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib: Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib is situated at the Parvati Valley between the rivers Beas and Parvati, northeast of Bhuntar in the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh. It is at a height of 1760 metres and is situated about 45 kilometres from Kullu.
