The Deogarh district comprising of one municipality, one tahsil and three Blocks uniting 774 villages.

Deogarh, the dissected part of the Sambalpur district is constituted as the separate functional administrative district on 1st January 1994. The Deogarh district comprising of one municipality, one tahsil and three Blocks uniting 774 villages has an area of 2781.66 Sq.km. with population 2,74,095 as per 2001 Census. The present Deogarh forms the part of the old Bamara state (Deogarh Subdivision).
