Wana Brigade

The Wana Brigade was formed under the British Empire in India as an infantry formation for service in the Second World War. The brigade was raised after the reforms in the British Indian Army in September 1939. The main objective of the brigade was to serve on the North West Frontier during the war. It was normal practice in the British Indian Army for newly formed battalions to be stationed to the North West Frontier for providing military service before being posted in Italy, Burma or Africa.

The Wana Brigade remained in active service from the year 1939 till 1945. Brigadier C. O. Harvey and Brigadier Lewis Heath were some of the most reputed commandants of the infantry formation.
