Surendrapuri is a museum built to foster the mythological awareness among the Indians and also the foreigners. Surendrapuri Museum, also known as Mythological Centre; is located about 60 kilometers away from Hyderabad. It was established to create awareness on Indian mythology especially Hindu mythology by Kunda Satyanarayana in memory of his son Surendra. It is locally known as "Kunda Satyanarayana Kala Dhamam".
Sculptures of Surendrapuri Museum
This "Kunda Satyanarayana Kala Dhamam" or Surendrapuri Museum contains nearly full sized replicas of almost all the significant Hindu temples in India. The architecture and the sculptures inside the museum make it a replica of a temple. Around 3000 sculptures are displayed in open air and also in the indoors. The sculptures are made according to the mythological scenes. The presiding and corresponding deities along with their divine consorts and Vahanas are sculptured acutely.
There are sculptures and paintings depicting the stories from major Hindu epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavat Gita. Various mythological scenes of war between Lord Rama and Ravana in Ramayana, Padmavyuha in Kurukshetra between Kauravas and Pandavas in Mahabharata, are carved beautifully and portrayed in details that a novice can easily know about the vast Indian mythological incidents. The main doors of the Panchamukha Hanumadeeswara and Venkateswara Devasthanam are engraved with the figures of the main presiding deities with all beauty and grandeur.
Temples of Surendrapuri Museum
Nagakoteswara Viswaroopa temple exhibits the large Shiva Linga, which is encircled by the Kala Sarpa (snake). Avagrah Temples or the Temples of Nine Planets are built for the Navagrahas that is the nine planets in the universe. These are Adhi Devata, Pratyadhi Devata, Vahana Sahita and SatiSameta. The Navagraha temples are positioned by the side of the main temple on the north-eastern side of Surendrapuri. The idols of the deities are installed on the front side of the temple in their original forms, colours and seats.
Hanuman and Shiva Statue of Surendrapuri Museum
There is a 60 feet idol of Panchamukha Hanuman. It is positioned in front elevation and the Panchamukha Shiva at its back is a great architectural splendour. The gigantic statue of Hanuman is with the five heads of Vanara, Narasimha, Garuda, Sookara and Hayagreeva.

Surendrapuri is well linked by road, rail and air ways. It is on the road from Hyderabad to Yadagirigutta of Nalgonda district. It is about 1.5 kilometer away from Yadagirigutta bus station. The nearest railway station is Bhuvanagiri. The nearest airport is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at a distance of 75 kilometers from the museum.
