Shri Varang Teerth located in Karnataka is a Jain pilgrimage centre. The teerth kshetra is situated at the foot of the hills outside the village of Varang. It is on the Mangalore Shimoga Road. The temple is dedicated to Lord Parshvanatha, the twenty-fourth Jain Tirthankara.
History of Shri Varang Teerth
According to history Shri Varang Teerth dates back to the ancient times. It is said that earlier the teerth kshetra was once a rich and prosperous place and was resided by many people. In the southern regions the temple is known as Jalmandir. As per reference Muni Shilvijay came here on a pilgrimage in the year 1711 of the Yikra Era. At one time there were almost sixty temples on the hills here. The idol of Lord Parshvanatha is believed to possess miraculous powers. Thousands of Jains and non Jains from far off places visit the temple to offer their prayers. It is believed that if prayed with all devotion the Lord fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims.

The temple of Shri Varang Teerth houses the idol of Lord Parshvanatha. The Digambara temple has been magnificently decorated with intricate artistic designs. The creative temple work boast about the skills of the craftsmen. The walls and pillars of the temple are adorned with specimens of ancient art and paintings. The idol of the Lord is black in colour and can be seen in a Kayotsarga posture. The idol has been beautifully carved from a single stone and looks very appealing. The smiling face of the Lord looks very calm and serene. Apart from this a Jalamandir is also present here that looks very appealing. Two other exquisite Jain temples are also located here.
The Temple of Shri Varang Teerth organises many annual gatherings and functions. There are provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims. These are well equipped with all modern facilities. Apart from this there are Upashrays, an Ayambilshala and a Jnanabhandar. The teerth is situated amidst beautiful natural surroundings.
