Shri Nandasan Teerth located in Gujarat is a Jain pilgrimage centre. The teerth kshetra is situated on the Mehsana highway outside the Nandasan village. The temple is dedicated to Lord Parshvanatha, the twenty-third Jain Tirthankara.
History of Shri Nandasan Teerth
According to the historical records Shri Nandasan Teerth is an ancient teerth. The new idol of Lord Parshvanatha was installed in the temple on Sunday May 7, 1995, i.e. the seventh day of the bright half of the month of Vaishakh in the year 2051 of the Vikram Samvat Era. It was done at the auspicious hands of the revered hands of Acharya Vijayrajendrasurishvarji. The old idol of the lord was brought from the old village of Nandasan and has been kept here in a nearby sanctuary. The idol was installed here almost 40 years ago. The new temple of the Lord was built under the inspiration of His Holiness Rajendrasurishwarji. This teerth is also called Jaytribhoovan teerth. Here the idol of Lord Parshvanatha is believed to possess miraculous powers and are visited by thousands of Jains and non Jains from far off places. They come here to offer their prayers to the Lord and receive his blessings. It is believed that if prayed with all devotion the Lord fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims
Temple of Shri Nandasan Teerth
The temple of Shri Nandasan Teerth housing the idol of Lord Parshvanatha looks beautiful. The large octagonal temple has been brilliantly decorated with intricate designs. The creative temple work boast about the artistic skills of the craftsmen. The walls and pillars of the temple are adorned with specimens of ancient art and paintings.
The idol of Bhagwan Manmohan Parshvanatha is 127 cms in height and is white in colour. The idol is seated in a padmasana posture. Another idol of the Lord located in the temple is 33 cm in height. The idol has been beautifully carved from a single stone and looks very beautiful. The smiling face of the Lord looks very calm and serene. Apart from the main idol the idols of Kalikund Parshvanatha, Guru Gautam Swami, Padmavati Devi, Manibhadravir and others are also installed here.
The Temple of Shri Nandasan Teerth organizes many annual gatherings and functions that are celebrated with much enthusiasm.
