Early Life of Shilarna Vaze

Shilarna Vaze was born and raised in Mumbai. Armed with a degree in Political Science, Chef Chinu has worked as a columnist for Mumbai Times, Vogue magazine and Outlook Traveler Elle magazine etc. She is quite a popular face on Indian television. Worked with television production, acting and a lucrative modelling career, Shilarna Vaze eventually decided to return to her real love, the culinary arts.

Following internships at popular restaurants in Mumbai, Shilarna decided to move to Paris, the gastronomic capital of the world, and enroll in the prestigious "Diplome de Cuisine" course at Le Cordon Bleu.

Career of Shilarna Vaze

Shilarna Vaze returned to India and settled in Goa, working for some of its finest kitchens as ‘A Reverie and Sublime’ and interned at other bigwigs like ‘Indigo deli and rain’. She has been working in restaurants in Mumbai and Goa ever since.

Later, she and her husband Christophe opened their restaurant “Gaia” at Ashwem Beach in Goa. They are currently running a sushi delivery business called “Ninja Sushi” in Mumbai as well as a gourmet catering service called “Gaia Home Chef” which is now “Gaia Gourmet”. “Ninja Sushi” further boosted her reputation as one of India’s most adored chefs. “Gaia Home Chef” caters for consulates, Bollywood celebrities, international brands and corporate.

Today, ‘Gaia Gourmet’ stands as an upscale catering brand with a star-studded clientele that includes celebrities such as Sonam Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, and Alia Bhatt, along with several consulates and prestigious brands like Moet & Chandon. Vaze and her husband Perrin take a hands-on approach, personally cooking in their clients’ kitchens and managing every detail, from the crockery and decor to the overall service experience.

Journey of Shilarna Vaze

Inspired by her pregnancy and her baby, Shilarna Vaze began sharing recipes on Instagram, exploring how to genuinely nourish and sustain both women and children. This journey added a refreshing new dimension to her cooking, centered on wholesome recipes and eco-friendly ingredients. Passionate about sustainability, wellness, and nutrition, she also strives to empower artisans, especially women. Through her work, Shilarna hopes to educate people about making mindful food choices, particularly when it comes to feeding their little ones.

Media Appearance of Shilarna Vaze

Shilarna Vaze has hosted her own cooking show, “Firangi Tadka” aired on FoodFood, Sanjeev Kapoor’s new food channel. She presently hosts "Sunny Side Up" on FoodFood where she prepares fusion brunch recipes. She has even had a lucrative stint on the children’s Pogo channel and has also been featured twice in Vogue. She has written an editorial for Vogue Living entitled “Green Fingers” and regularly blogs on organic living. Shilarna Vaze is also an actress known for a small role in the movie "Na Tum Jaano Na Hum" in 2002 starring Esha Deol, Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan.

Personal Life of Shilarna Vaze

Shilarna Vaze is married to Christophe Perrin who also happens to be a chef. The couple welcomed their baby girl Zanskar on 2017. She was also voted one of the ‘50 people changing the way India eats' by ‘Conde Nast Traveller.’
