Shani Dham Temple is said to be the residence of the tallest statue of Lord Shani in the world. The largest Shani Idol was uncovered by Anant Shree Vibhushit Jagat Guru Shankracharya Swami Madhavasharam Ji Maharaj on May 31st, 2003. It has become an attraction for the devotees of Lord Shani. It has the natural rock Idol of Lord Shani. It has become the hub of attraction for the devotees of Lord Shani from all over the world.
Location of Shani Dham Temple
Shani Dham Temple is located near Asola in Delhi. It is 6 kilometres away from Chhatarpur Temple, about 8-9 kilometres away from Mehrauli, and 16 kilometres away from Qutub Minar.
Legends of Shani Dham Temple
It is believed that whoever performs a pooja to the God of this temple, their sins would be washed away for forever. No material from exterior in the temple is allowed due to safety issues. The money collected is used for different open-handed works. Once the devotees enter the temple grounds, no one talks to one another but stays in a silent pious chanting the God"s name. No matter what the troubles are left at the back, they are also solved by their worshiping here and by offering oil to Lord Shani.
Architecture of Shani Dham Temple
Apart from the top of Shani Idol, the attractive bestowed statues of other Gods and Goddesses are also stiffed. There is a huge library and a research centre, in the Ashram Premises itself. Here, all types of questions related to astrology, Ayurveda, Yoga and the Tantra are being answered. Rather Sage Rajasthani himself remains presented all the times in order to answer questions to the questioning devotees. On the top of the eastern part of Shani Dham, the largest beaming Shani idol has been erected. The major door of this eastern part falls in the west side. On North and south, both sides, there are Shani statues erected, in which Shani Maharaj is riding over variety of rides. On the left and the right sides of Shani Shila the Statues of Bhairav Dev are established.
In the east side of "Shani Shila", there is a large hall, in which the symbolic idols of the 12 "Jyotirlingas" are established. On the top of this hall, there are huge metal statues of Lord Shani. In another room, extraordinary astrological books and material for Shani pooja is made accessible. In the western part of "Shani Dham", there are western faced huge Shani statues erected riding buffalo and vulture. On the right side of the two Shani Statues, the statue of Lord Hanuman is placed. It faces towards South. Opposite to this, there is a preparation for the devotees to take a bath. On the west side of the hall, there is yet again a different big hall. In this hall some extraordinary religious performances and the mediation meetings are held. In this big hall, there is an idol of Ardhanarishwar facing towards East.
