Sadeq Mohammad Khan V ruled as the Nawab of Bahawalpur from the year 1907 to 1966. Later he was appointed as the Amir of Bahawalpur.

Sadeq Mohammad Khan V, Nawab of BahawalpurSadeq Mohammad Khan V, also known as Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V, was the Nawab of the princely state of Bahawalpur, during the rule of the British Empire in India. Later he became the Amir of Bahawalpur, which was considered as one of the Rajputana states. He reigned over the territory from the year 1907 to 1966. After the death of his father Haji Nawab Muhammad Bahawal Khan Abbasi V on 15 February 1907, he succeeded him as the new ruler or Nawab of the princely state of Bahawalpur. As he was merely two and a half of age at the time of his succession, Sadeq Mohammad ruled under regency.

Early Life of Sadeq Mohammad Khan V
Sir Sadeq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V was born on 29th September 1904 at Derawar, as the only son and heir apparent of Haji Nawab Muhammad Bahawal Khan Abbasi V, who was the then Nawab of the princely state of Bahawalpur. He completed his education from Aitchison College in Lahore. When he was 15 years old, he participated in the Third Afghan War in the year 1919 and fought with valour and was knighted in 1922. After he reached the age of majority 2years later and ascended the throne, Sadeq Mohammad Khan V was invested with full ruling powers by Lord Reading. .He assumed control of the administration and governance of the princely state of Bahawalpur.

Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V continued with his military career in the British Indian Army, which he started as a Lieutenant in the year 1921. He was made Major in 1932 and later by the year 1941, he became a Lieutenant Colonel and led the British Indian troops to the Middle East, during the World War II. Sadiq Muhammad also became a Member of the Chamber of Princes from 1933 and was a member of the Indian Defence Council from 1940 as well.

Later in the year 1946, the Nawab of the princely state of Bahawalpur was promoted in rank to Major General. After India attained independence from the British Government on 15th August 1947, Sadeq Mohammad Khan V was sponsored with the title of Amir of Bahawalpur state. A few months later, he acceded the princely state to the Dominion of Pakistan and was merged with into West Pakistan.

As the Amir of Bahawalpur, Sadeq Mohammad established a school named Sadiq Public School that was spread over an area of 415 acres.

Personal Life of Sadeq Mohammad Khan V
Sadeq Mohammad Khan V was married to HIH Princess Hamide Nermin Nezahat Sultan on 6 October 1929. He was married several other times and had many wives. He died at the age of 61, on 24 May 1966 after a reign of 59 years. Sir Sadeq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V was succeeded by Haji Muhammad Abbas Khan Abbasi Bahadur, his eldest son.
