Pulimukam Temple is a Hindu temple that is located in Thazhava in the Kollam district of Kerala. Situated about 5 km north of Karunagappally the temple is dedicated to Bhadra Bhagavathi. Apart from the main deity, a diverse number of sub deities enlighten the temple premises also known as Upadevathas in the like the Yakshi, Lord Ganesha, Nagaraja, Naga Yakshi and Rekshas. A few Prathishtas were either re-stored or installed to the Deva Prashnam by expert astrologers recently. Devotees from far off places visit the temple and offer their worship to the deity and sub deities. They also worship a Kavu i.e. a patch of small forest which houses the serpent Gods, Karimbana tree and Ezhilam Pala tree that are located here. These are worshipped on the belief that they house Gandharvas and Yakshis.

Festivals of Pulimukham Devi Temple
Pulimukham Devi Temple celebrates many festivals every year on a grand scale. During this time the temple is tastefully decorated with lights and flowers. The two most important festivals that are celebrated in the temple have been stated below:

Parayeduppu
Parayeduppu period is regarded as the festive season in almost all the temples of Onattukara. The celebration begins when the deity of Pulimukham temple is taken out in procession for Parayeduppu. There are many rituals followed in this celebration. One of the most important is the construction of the Jeevatha in the model of the temple structure itself. A box like carriage is prepared for the deity that rests on two teakwood poles that are almost two meters long. It looks like a palanquin. The front portion of the palanquin resembles a pettakam i.e. a small chest. It has been made according to Thachusaasthra calculations. The deity`s holy dresses washed, starched, pleated and beautifully decorated with small golden pieces are also kept here. During the festival soft beautiful tones are played that are very soothing to the ears. These are specially played during the Jeevatha Ezunnallathu. It begins with very slow beats, then builds up a crescendo and ends in fast beats.

Meena Bharani
Meena Bharani is a major festival celebrated in Pulimukham. It is celebrated in the month of March or April. The date of the festival is determined according to the Malayalam Calendar KollaVarsham. The "Pulimukham Bharani" is celebrated in the month of Meenam which has the star Bharani. Hence it has been named as Meena Bharani. The highlight of the festival is Kuthiyottam and Kettukazhcha and Khosha Yatra and Pongala.
