Princely State of Kaslapagi Numuvadu

The Princely State of Kaslapagi Numuvadu, also known as Kasla Paginu Muada or Kasla Pagi Nu Muvadu state, was amongst the former native states of India. It was appointed as one of the Indian princely states during the early 19th century. The princely state was under the indirect control of the British Empire in India. The taluka was scattered over a total area of 1 sq miles and was a part of the Indian state of Gujarat. The region comprised of a total population of 231 in the year 1941. The Princely State of Kaslapagi Numuvadu or Kasla Pagi Nu Muvadu was a narrow strip of land that was bounded by the princely state of Pandu in the west; by the princely state of Mokapagi Nu Muvadu in the east; and by the British Panch Mahals in the north and south.

The princely state of Kaslapagi Numuvadu was claimed by more than one native prince who were formally addressed as shareholders. There are 3 such shareholders in the native state who were primarily Baria Kolis. The shareholders of the princely state of Kaslapagi Numuvadu or Kasla Pagi Nu Muvadu were generally deprived and poor. The estate holders were known as pagis or trackers, and were like common farmer. The rule of male primogeniture, by which the first born or eldest child of the same parents the first born or eldest child of the same parents, to the exclusion of all others, was followed in the succession of the throne or gadi of the princely state.

Kaslapagi Numuvadu state was a non- jurisdictionary princely state. The Princely State of Kaslapagi Numuvadu paid annual tribute to the princely state of Baroda. According to the Attachment Scheme of 1943, the princely state of Kaslapagi Numuvadu or Kasla Pagi Nu Muvadu was attached to the princely state of Baroda.

The erstwhile princely state of Kaslapagi Numuvadu was incorporated as a part of the Baroda Agency, which was a sub division of the Western India States Agency. Later the region was merged with the state of Gujarat. The state of Kaslapagi Numuvadu was one of the 26 states which formed up the Pandu Mehvassi, which was under the administrative control of the erstwhile Rewa Kantha Agency.

After the political withdrawal of the British Supremacy and the partition of India on 15th August 1947, the princely state of Kaslapagi Numuvadu was acceded to the independent Dominion of India, which was also known as Union of India.
