Presidents of Bengal in Colonial Era in India

Prior to the start of governorship in Bengal after the Battle of Plassey, this part of India was lead by the representatives of the British East India Company holding the title of "President". These Presidents and their leadership period are mentioned below.

Presidents of Bengal from 1693-1694
Francis Ellis, the administrator of the British East India Company became the President of Bengal in 1693. Charles Eyre was the British East India Company administrator, President of Bengal (1693 to 1694) and the founder of Fort William, Calcutta.

Presidents of Bengal from 1700 to 1728
Charles Eyre again acted as the President of Bengal from 1700 to 1701. John Beard, the administrator of the British East India Company served Bengal as the Chief Agent and President (1701 - 1705). Edward Littleton, British East India Company administrator served Bengal as it"s President in 1705. Anthony Weltden, the British East India Company administrator held the title of the President of Bengal from 1710 to 1711. John Russell, the British East India Company administrator served Bengal as it"s President from 1711 to 1713. Robert Hedges, the British East India Company administrator held the office of the President of Bengal from 1713 to 1718. Samuel Flake, the British East India Company administrator acted as the President of Bengal from 1718 to 1723. John Deane, the British East India Company administrator acted as the President of Bengal from 1723 to 1726. Henry Frankland, the British East India Company administrator was the President of Bengal from 1726 to 1728.

Edward Stephenson, the administrator of the British East India Company acted as the President of Bengal in 1728. John Deane again acted as the President of Bengal from 1728 to 1732. John Stackhouse, the administrator of the British East India Company acted as the President of Bengal from 1732 to 1739. Thomas Broddyll, the administrator of the British East India Company had held the office of the President of Bengal from 1739 to 1746. John Forster, the administrator of the British East India Company acted as the President of Bengal from 1746 to 1748. William Barwell, the British East India Company administrator acted as President of Bengal from 1748 to 1749. Adam Dawson, British East India Company administrator was the President of Bengal from 1749 to 1752. William Fytche, the British East India Company administrator was the President of Bengal from 1752 to 1756. Roger Drake, the administrator of the British East India Company was the President of Bengal from 1752 to 1756.
