Presidency Volunteer Reserve Battalion
Presidency Volunteer Reserve Battalion was raised on 30th March 1888. The army regiment was re-designated as the Presidency Battalion, Calcutta Rifle Volunteers on 24th March 1898.

The Presidency Volunteer Reserve Battalion was an infantry regiment under the British Colonial Auxiliary Forces in India. The volunteer corps unit was raised on 30th March 1888. It was a part of the Presidency Armies in British India, which included the 3 main British armed forces, namely the Madras Army of Madras Presidency, the Bengal Army of Bengal Presidency and the Bombay Army of Bombay Presidency.

In the year 1891, the regiment was renamed as the Presidency Volunteer Rifle Battalion. However it was re-designated as the Presidency Battalion, Calcutta Rifle Volunteers on 24th March 1898. The infantry battalion was designated as the 2nd (Presidency) Battalion, Calcutta Volunteer Rifles in 1901. The unit was renamed again as the 37th Calcutta Presidency Battalion in 1917; and as the Calcutta Presidency Battalion on 1st October 1920.

On 23rd July 1926, the Presidency Volunteer Reserve Battalion was merged with the Calcutta Volunteer Rifle Corps to form the Calcutta and Presidency Battalion.
