The Mahapuranas and Upapuranas mention that Prasanna Ganapati is one of the forms of Lord Ganesha. In this incarnation, the elephant-faced deity is depicted with a scarlet or crimson complexion, like the arising sun. Lord Ganesha, the Remover of Obstacles, is adorned with red garments in this form. Prasanna Ganapati is portrayed with fours arms. Among the four arms, two arms display specific yoga mudras or hand gestures, namely Varada Mudra and Abhaya Mudra, while the other two hands hold a goad and a noose.
