Nagpur Volunteer Rifles

The Nagpur Volunteer Rifles, also known as Nagpore Rifles (Nagpur Rifles) was a former infantry regiment under the British Colonial Auxiliary Forces in India. The volunteer corps regiment was raised on 29th December 1860 as the Nagpur Volunteer Rifles as a part of the British Indian Army. It was apart of the Bombay Army of Bombay Presidency. The military battalion was headquartered in Nagpore (Nagpur) in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The uniform of the troops included khaki drill.

On 1st October 1904, the Nagpur Volunteer Rifles absorbed the regiment of Berar Volunteer Rifle Corps. Later in 1926, the regiment was re-designated as the Nagpur Rifles. The detachments of the regiment were posted in Mohpani, Kamptee, Hardha (Harda), Wardha, Chandla, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Betul, Seoni, Balaghat, Hoshangabad, Chindwara, Bhandara, Khandwa, Jubbulpore and Warora. The uniform of the regiment was modified in 1940 and included Khaki formal dress and the military badge included Light Infantry Bugle and Cord.
