The Nagbal temple is located in the eastern corner of the Anantnag town of Jammu and Kashmir. It is placed adjacent to a spring.
The scenic beauty of Nagbal temple is splendorous. There are long shady Chinar trees that stand sentinel round the tank. The presiding deity of the Nagbal temple is Lord Ananta Bhawan set up at the outlet of the spring. The temple was built by Maharaja Ranbir Singh (August 1830-12 September 1885). He was the second Dogra ruler (a Hindu community concentrated in north of the Sutlej River) of Kashmir. There are also other smaller temples near by Nagbal Temple. The adjacent temple is Lord Shiva temple, the oldest temple, was built during the reign of Maharaja Partap Singh (18 July 1848 - 23 September 1925). Other temples are the temple of Lord Rama and the temple of Lord Hanuman present near the Nagbal temple. A sulphur spring is also located in the temple complex. The local inhabitants of Nagbal believed that the sulphur spring has spiritual values. Nagbal temple is bounded by incredible beauty of nature.
The holy spring is originated from Nagbal village. The formation of the sulphur spring is attributed to Lord Vishnu (Indian God) or Narayana. This was well known as a Vedic pilgrimage centre. The spring rises beautifully from the foot of a small hill-lock. The water level is constant throughout the year. The Annual fair is held on Beuuderpeth Gat`iu Pachh Tsodah.
