Marichi Temple, located in Balasore, is a newly built shrine in the Indian state of Orissa. The temple is located at a distance of almost 9 kms north of Sajanagada. The road on the left side of the temple leads from Nilagiri to Mayurbhanj in Balasore district.
Marichi Temple, built recently, is a pidha vimana like other temples of Orissa. The main idol of the temple is Goddess Durga worshipped in the form of Mahayana goddess Marichi. The deity is flanked by two other goddesses. The garbhagriha of the shrine also enshrines images related to Buddhism, Tantrism and Jainism that date back to 11th century. The deities are thought to have been built during Somavamsi Keshari rule. Besides these, there are other images of a Varahi having four hands, Jain Tirthankaras, Lord Buddha in Bhumisparsha Mudra and Avalokitesvara. The temple celebrates Durga Puja on a grand scale drawing pilgrims from different corners of the country.
