Mangal Singh Prabhankar

Mangal Singh Prabhankar, also known as Mangal Singh Prabhakar Bahadur, was a well known ruler or Maharaja of the princely state of Alwar, which is presently known as Alwar District in the state of Rajasthan in the northwest of India. It was a unit of British reign in India which was not directly administered by the British East India Company. The princely state was also known as Ulwar during British India. Mangal Singh Prabhankar ruled over the region from the year 1874 to 1892. He was born in the year 1859. He was preceded by Shoedan Singh Prabhankar Bahadur, who was the previous Maharaja of the princely state of Alwar.

Maharaja Mangal Singh Prabhankar of Alwar was the 6th ruler of the princely state. He was adopted from Thikana Thana and ascended the throne or gadi of Alwar on 14th December 1874, in preference to Kunwar Lakhdir Singh of Bijwar.

Mangal Singh Prabhankar GCSI was married several times. His first marriage was with the 2nd daughter of Maharaja Prithvi Singhji of Kishangarh in the year 1877. Later in 1878, he married the daughter of Raja Bhairon Singhji of Ratlam. The couple had children.

Mangal Singh Prabhankar, Maharaja of the princely state of Alwar, died in Nainital on in Nainital due to alcoholic toxicity. He was succeeded by his only son Jai Singh Prabhakar.
