Kottarakkulam Sree Mahaganapathy Kovil is a popular temple in Kollam in Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Apart from the main deity there are other deities like Nagaraja and Swami Aiyappan. The temple is situated the Kollam Civil Station. The temple is maintained by the Tamil Brahmin community of Kollam Corporation that consists of 270 families. Devotees visiting the temple are offered Appams and Modakams as Prasadams. The main festival celebrated in Kottarakulam Maha Ganapathy temple is Vinayaka Chathurthi. The festival begins from the month of August. Many rituals are also conducted here like Ashta Dravya Mahaganapathy Homam, Kalashapooja, laksharchana and pushpabhishekam.
According to history Kottarakkulam Sree Mahaganapathy Kovil dates back to the ancient times. It was repaired and renovated to its present form in the year 1984. Since its construction the temple has attracted thousands of devotees from after off places who come here to offer their worship and receive the blessings of the Lord.
