Khajrana Ganesha temple, dedicated to Lord Ganseha, is located in Indore in Madhya Pradesh with its close association with the Maratha Empire. Presently, the temple is under the Bhatt family.

History of Khajrana Ganesha Temple
Khajrana Ganesha Temple, dating back to thousand years, finds its mention in the historical books for its close association with the Mughal Dynasty. As per the historical records the idol of the temple, Lord Ganesha was concealed in a well to protect it from being demolished by the Mughal monarch, Aurangzeb. Later a temple was constructed in 1735 by Ahilyabai Holkar of the Holkar Dynasty of the Maratha Empire. The idol of the Lord was taken out and installed in the temple in the same year.

Khajrana Ganesha Temple, one of the most revered shrines of the city, has with time evolved from a small hut to a huge temple structure. Over the years the temple has witnessed several alterations and undergone numerous modifications. The entrance gate of the temple and the exterior wall of the garbhagriha have been built of silver and adorned with images pertaining to myriad festivals celebrated widely. The eyes of the deity are of diamonds, contributed by an affluent business man of Indore. Even the upper wall of the garbhagriha is made of silver.

Pilgrims, both national and international, frequent the temple from different destinations, donating gold, diamonds and other precious jewels in honour of the Lord.
