Kamaksha Devi Temple, Karsog, Mandi, Himachal PradeshKamaksha Devi temple is situated in Kao, 7km from Karsog (located 100km from the state capital of Shimla, Karsog is a splendid bowl-shaped valley, placed amidst apple orchards) in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is supposed that Goddess Durga vanquished Mahishasur (a demon in the form of a buffalo) here. Various buffaloes are sacrificed every year during Navratri. The temple has astonishing woodcarvings of Pagoda-style structural design. The nearby tourist destinations include- Shikari Devi temple, Mahunag temple, Mamaleshwar temple, Shikari peak, Makru Nag temple, Rohanda, Pangna Killa Temple, Barot, Karsog and Sundernagar. Kamaksha Devi temple can be reached from Chindi (19km). Joginder Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
