Kachi Metrali is a temple located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. More specifically, this is a small shrine in Pillayarpalayam in Kanchipuram. This temple is close to the Kanthakottam temple. In some inscriptions, Kachi Metrali is also named as Kachipedu. Its ruling deity is Lord Shiva or Tirumetralinathar. Theertham or the physical holy water body associated with this temple or its deity is Vishnutheertham. It"s Patikam is Appar, Sundarar. Kachi Metrali is also credited with the status of being the second of the 32 Tevara Stalams in the Tondai region of South India.
History of Kachi Metrali Temple
History highlights that Lord Vishnu had meditated upon Lord Shiva in this temple in the form of kurma (tortoise). He worshipped Shiva to attain Shivaroopam.
Architectural Design of Kachi Metrali Temple
Kachi Metrali temple represents the architectural design style of the Pallava dynasty. Its present structure is given by the Vijayanagar rulers. Kachi Metrali has a three-tiered Rajagopuram or the gateway. Apart from Shiva, two other Shivalingams enshrined in Kachi Metrali are the Odha Urigeeswarar and Mutheeswarar. While the Oda Urugeeswarar shrine faces east, the Metralinathar shrine faces west. It has a shrine dedicated to Kamakshi. This temple also has shrines dedicated to Ganesha, Subramanya, Kasi Viswanathar, Bhairavar and others.

Kachi Metrali temple celebrates Sambandar festival every year. Festivals celebrated in Kachabeswarar temple in Kanchipuram are also celebrated in Kachi Metrali temple.
