Kabbaldurga is a ruined fort located in Karnataka, which was used as a prison during British period. Murari Rao was also kept in the fort till his death.

Kabbaldurga, KarnatakaKabbaldurga is a ruined fort situated in the Bangalore Rural District of Karnataka. Murari Rao Ghorpade, who was the 18th century Maratha chieftain to control Gooty, was kept in this fort till his death after he was defeated by Hyder Ali in 1776 AD. Murari Rao was sent to this fort along with his family. During British period, convicts were thrown off the cliff of this port as a punishment. There are buildings on the top of the fort, which are prison, garrison, and storage godown. There are small temples as well, named Bheemalilngeshwara and Kabbalamma temple.

Visiting Information to Kabbaldurga
Dodbele Railway Station and Kempegowda International Airport are the nearest to visit the fort. State Highway 17 connects the district to other major parts of the country.
