Early Indian Cricket Players
India`s national cricket team did not play its first Test match until 25th June 1932 at Lord"s. The team gained power in the 1970s with the coming out of players such as batsmen Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Viswanath, Mohinder Amarnath, all-rounder Kapil Dev and the Indian spin quartet of Erapalli Prasanna, Srinivas Venkataraghavan, Bhagwat Chandrasekhar and Bishen Singh Bedi. India was not considered strong in (One Day International) ODIs at this point and batsmen such as the captain Gavaskar were recognized for their cynical approach to batting.

In 1980s, India developed a more attack-minded batting assemble Mohammed Azharuddin, Dilip Vengsarkar and all-rounder Kapil Dev and Ravi Shastri. Other famous players of 1980s are Arun Lal, Maninder Singh, Chetan Sharma, Manoj Prabhakar, Lalchand Rajput, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Shivlal Yadav, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sanjay Manjrekar, Robin Singh and so on.

In 1990s, Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kumble joined the team. The following year, Javagal Srinath and India`s fastest bowler since Amar Singh made his debut. India`s national cricket team underwent a year of change as Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid in the 1996 Cricket World Cup semi-final. Other famous players of 1990s are Vinod Kambli, Rajesh Chauhan, Venkatesh Prasad, Bhupinder Singh, Utpal Chatterjee, Ajit Agarkar, V. V. S. In 2000, the former captain Azharuddin and fellow batsman Ajay Jadeja were caught up in a match-fixing scandal and given life and five years bans correspondingly. Other famous players of 2000 era are Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh, Dinesh Mongia, Ashish Nehra, Mohammad Kaif, Murali Kartik, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Gautam Gambhir, Amit Mishra, Irfan Pathan, Dinesh Karthik, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Joginder Sharma, S. Sreesanth, Munaf Patel, Robin Uthappa, Piyush Chawla, Manoj Tiwary, Yusuf Pathan and so on.

Records of Indian Cricket Players
The Indian cricket team also holds the record sequence of 17 successful run-chases in ODIs. Individual records of the Indian Cricket Players are as follows:


•Sachin Tendulkar started his career at the age of 16 only and holds the record of most appearances in both Tests and ODIs, most runs in both Tests and ODIs and most centuries in Tests and ODIs. Sachin Tendulkar was the first batsman to score 200 runs in a single ODI innings.


•Virender Sehwag has the highest score of 319 by an Indian and is the second triple century in Test cricket by an Indian, the first being a 309 which is also made by Sehwag against Pakistan.


•Rohit Sharma scored 264 runs from 173 deliveries.
•The spin bowler Anil Kumble has taken 600 Test wickets and become the second bowler to take all ten wickets in a Test match innings.


•Mahendra Singh Dhoni`s 183 not out against Sri Lanka in 2005 is the world record score by a wicketkeeper in ODIs. Dhoni became the first captain in history to win all three major ICC trophies, namely- ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011, ICC World Twenty20 in 2007 and ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.


•Virat Kohli became the first cricketer to win back-to-back man of the series awards in the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 and 2014 ICC World Twenty20.


•In 2017, Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest cricketer in history to reach 250 wickets.


•Yuvraj Singh famously hit 6 sixes in one over bowled by Stuart Broad.

Indian Women Cricket Players
The Women Cricketers do not receive as much accepted support or acknowledgment like the men`s team. The Women`s Asia Cup of 2005–06 was won by India. India reached the final of the 2017 World Cup but lost to England by 9 runs, following which the team was praised by many includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jhulan Goswami is the world`s leading ODI wicket-taker while Mithali Raj, the captain, is the leading run-scorer in ODI cricket.

Indian Cricketers are all making great efforts and achieving great feats both on their home soil and in overseas during this period.
