Gopala Bhatta Goswami (1503-1578) was part of Six Goswamis who were influential in establishing the philosophical basis of Gaudiya tradition. Gopala met with Chaitanya in 1510 during his tour of South India. Thereafter he served him fro several months. According to Gaudiya tradition Gopala Bhatta had a spiritual vision in which Chaitanya revealed Himself as an avatar of Krishna. After departure of Chaitanya, Gopal Bhatta took guidance from his uncle Prabhodananda Sarasvati. After the death of his parents Gopal Bhatta travelled to Vrindavan where he met Rupa and Sanatana. Gopal later helped Santana to compile the book Hari Bhakti Vilasa.
Gopala Bhatta was taught rhetoric, poetry, Vedanta, and Sanskrit grammar by his uncle Prabodhananda Sarasvati. There Chaitanya sent a letter instructing him to help Rupa and Sanatana compile Vaishnava literature. Later he was also engaged with his disciple Srinivasa Acharya in carrying the writings to Bengal. He wrote Shrikrisnaballabha which is a commentary on the play called Krisnakarnamrta. He also wrote a commentary of the book Satsandrarbha in an aphoristic form. His other book is Satkriyasaradipika has descriptions of fourteen rituals of a wedding. It also lays out rules for dresses and conduct.
