The temple, situated in the clam and serene ambience of the village away from the cacophony of the city life, enthrals the heart of the pilgrims visiting the sacred shrine. The presiding deity of this sacred Shakti shrine is Garjiya Devi. The pilgrimage centre is located atop a huge rock in the Kosi River. The temple, dating back to thousand years, is regarded as one of the prominent temples of the Nainital district visited by hordes of devotees especially during Kartik Purnima, a Hindu holy day celebrated on the fifteenth lunar day of Kartik i.e. during the month of November - December. The Kartik Purnima festival also coincides with the Sikh festival of Guru Nanak Jayanti.
