Suchitra Mitra

Apart from being a famous Rabindrasangeet singer she had also worked as a professor for many years in Rabindra Sangeet Department at the Rabindra Bharati University. Suchitra Mitra had received her training in this genre of music from some Rabindrasangeet maestro`s viz. Shailajaranjan Mazumdar, Santidev Ghosh and Indiradevi Chaudhurani. Ruma Guha Thakurata Ruma Guha Thakurata is a famous Rabindrasangeet singer belonging to Brahmo Bengali family. She was born in the year 1934 and her mother, Sati Devi, was also a talented singer in a Brahmo family. Ruma Guha Thakurta had received Soviet Land Nehru Peace Award, the President`s Medal, Banga Ratna and Bharat Nirman Award for her excellent performances.

She was often referred as `nakal mohar` owing to her strike similarity of singing style with her guru Kanika Bandyopadhyay.
Srabani Sen
Srabani Sen is another Female Rabindrasangeet Singer who has gained remarkable fame in this genre of singing. This daughter of the renowned singer Sumitra Sen had started her career as a journalist in Bengali magazine Manorama but later opted music as a full time career.
