The Jain Golden Temple in Falna is a popular pilgrimage centre of the Jains. Falna is a small town in Rajasthan. Falna Jain golden temple is a new temple located in Ranakpur in Rajasthan. It is situated on the banks of river Magai and the riverbank is a major tourist hub. It is the first golden temple that has been constructed in the country by the people of the Jain community. The principal deity of the temple is Lord Parshvanatha, the twenty- third Jain Tirthankara. The temple was inaugurated by Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Vice-President of India. The installation ceremonies were also attended by him along-with other celebrities, like Shri L.M. Singhvi and others. The specialty of Jain Golden Temple is that about 90 Kg. of gold was donated by the ladies of the community in the local region for the adoration of temple dome and idol.
Architecture of Jain Golden Temple
Jain Golden Temple has been beautifully decorated and adorned with intricate architectural work. The temple has a huge ceiling that has been made of fine quality marble. The temple has been adorned with intricate sculptural designs. The temple has as many as thousand pillars but the most striking feature is that it is each of the pillars is different from the other. The main attraction of the temple is that its complete structure, including all the walls, roofs, pillars, doors, windows, steps, domes and shikhara have been painted with thick layer of gold. The main idol of the temple is made of black granite and is about two feet tall.
The temple situated on the Jaipur-Ahmedabad highway near Ranakpur, attracts a large number of devotees and pilgrims from far off places. A Kanch Mandir is located below the main temple. The temple has been beautifully designed with small sized mirrors.
