Durgesh Nandinii is an Indian television soap opera. It aired on Sony Channel and is based on a novel also called “Durgesh Nandinii” by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. It was the first Bengali romance novel published in 1865. The Durgesh Nandinii serial was aired from 5th February to 15th November, 2007. It was only one season where each episode was of 22 mins.

The central theme of the television serial Durgesh Nandinii revolves around the urban lifestyle comprising the rich and the rural lifestyle of the countryside which is comparatively simpler. The creator of this serial Shobhana Desai has made an attempt to display the diverse cultures and traditions of India, through a single story, through this serial. The story commenced during the time when Dharamadas Shrivstava, a millionaire industrialist died and left all his business and property in the name of Durgesh Nandinii, an orphan, in his will.

Synopsis of Durgesh Nandinii
The main protagonist of the serial resided in Lalgunj village, which represented the countryside. When the children of Dharamadas Shrivstava, particularly a daughter and two sons, learned that their father had granted his entire property along with his business to a stranger, they were extremely shocked. His entire family was irritated especially when Durgesh came to dwell in their luxurious bungalow. Little Durgesh arrived at the bungalow and established her own small village, complete with her cattle and her family inside the premises of their magnificent house. The story continued from this point of time.
