Parikshit Sahani, Indian TV ActorThe extremely talented and veteran actor Parikshit Sahani does not need any special introduction. He is the son of another Bollywood superstar Balraj Sahani. His real name is Ajay Sahani. As because his father and mother both were students of Shantiniektan he got his name by the novel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

His father was a graduate in English Literature from Shantiniketan. When his mother appeared for her graduation exams she was expecting him. It was at that point of time that Rabindranath Tagore gave the name `Pariksha` to Parikshit Sahani. He is a chartered accountant by profession but his passion for films made him turn into the world of films. The acting bug had bit him so hard that it was impossible for him to turh his back to the world. He made his film debut in `Anokhi Raat` in the year 1974.

Parikshit Sahani started his career as a hero but could not carve out a niche for himself in the roles of the main lead. He then turned to side characters. Soon after he took a major break from the world of films and kept himself busy writing and publishing his articles. The recent films in which he appeared are `Eklavya`, ` Mumbai Meets Mahatma`, `Chudiyaan` and `Umrao Jaan`. He has also acted in many television serials. There was one point of time when he was considered as the busiest actors of the small screen with as many as five serials in his hands - `Chandrakanta`, `Aashiquie`, `Alpviram`, `Heena` and `Noorjahan`. He is also given a brilliant performance in the recent afternoon soap `Saarthi` where he plays a fatherly figure who is quite firm in his decisions. He also directed a children`s film `Pakda Gaya Par Kaun` which was produced by his mother.

Parikshit Sahni has not only made a mark in the industry by his acting skills but he has also turned into a successful producer and director. Very few know this fact that he was trained as a director in Europe. He did a five-year course there but acting being into his blood he did not venture into direction in the initial stages. Gradually after proving his mettle as an actor he turned into direction. He has also penned down scripts like `Hum Dono` for Ravi Chopra and `Disha` for Cinevista. His serial `Lal Kothi Alvida` has created waves on the small screen. This is based on the story of three generations, the first one which fought for the independence of India, the second one which witnessed the independence struggle and has some patriotic values and the third generation which has inherited it but does not remember or care much about the history of the freedom struggle. He has a huge fan following and his fans also expect him to appear in such meaningful roles both in movies and soaps in the coming years.
