Introduction
Uttara Mhatre Kher is a former Indian model and beauty pageant winner. She has been actively involved in many associations and organizations working for social and environmental causes. Uttara Mhatre hails from a middle-class Maharashtrian family and fought her way to become a popular famous in the glamor world during the 1980s. Later, she chose to live a simple life with her husband in serene town in Nashik where she currently stays.

Early Life of Uttara Mhatre Kher
Born on December 29, 1963, Uttara Mhatre completed her graduation in Food & Nutrition from SNDT College in Mumbai. She later worked as a PR Manager at the Taj, where she met Adwait Kher, her now husband, who was serving as the Manager of the Shamiana restaurant at the same establishment. Uttara Mhatre won the Navy Queen Ball in the year 1981. Navy Queen Ball is a prestigious, traditional beauty pageant, organized by the Indian Navy. In 1982, she was crowned Femina Miss India World and in the same year she went on to represented India at the Miss World pageant.
Career of Uttara Mhatre Kher
Uttara Mhatre Kher started her career as a model at a young age. She has been a part of over hundred commercials and print campaigns. She was also featured as a cover girl in many leading fashion magazines. After her marriage with Adwait Kher, who was also a professional model, she and her husband quit the glamour world and moved to Nashik. In Nashik, they owned three restaurants named "Tandoor", "Aangan" and "The Bombay Talkies". They also ventured into furniture business and conduct regular exhibitions in Mumbai. In the year 2006, she joined "Maharashtra Navnirman Sena", as a head of the women’s wing and also the environmental wing. Disillusioned with party politics, she quit the party in 2009. Since then, she has been involved with many environmental issues independently and is also a trustee of the charitable run "Nashik Run". Uttara Mhatre Kher and Adwait Kher now own a beautiful ten-room farm stay in Nashik called Utopia Farmstay.
Personal Life of Uttara Mhatre Kher
Uttara Mhatre Kher is married to Adwait Kher, also a former model and son of renowned actress Usha Kiran. Actress Tanvi Azmi is her sister-in-law. The couple have two daughters. The elder daughter is Saunskruti Kher and the younger daughter is Saiyami Kher. Both the daughters started their career as professional models and gradually ventured into the entertainment industry. Saunskruti Kher made her debut in the Marathi Film industry with the 2014 film "Swami Public Ltd" and Saiyami Kher made her Hindi film debut in Rakesh Omprakash Mehra’s film “Mirzya” opposite Harshvaardhan Kapoor.
