Usha Kiran, Indian Movie ActressUsha Kiran was a popular Indian film actress who worked for both Hindi as well as Marathi film industry. Her career spanned over four decades during which she appeared in more than 50 Hindi and Marathi flicks. Some of her notably films include Mili, Bawarchi, Chupke Chupke, Baadbaan, Daag and many more. She was born on April 22, 1929 in the city of Hyderabad. Usha Kiran had learnt Kathak since the age of 10. During the period of 1996-97 she was the Sheriff of Mumbai.

Career of Usha Kiran
Usha Kiran began her career as an actress with theatres. She marked her debut with M. G. Rangnekar`s Marathi play titled Ashirwad. She stepped into the Hindi film industry with Uday Shankar`s dance-drama film named Kalpana in the year 1948 in which she essayed a small role. Following this she starred in a number of famous Hindi flicks such as Baadbaan, Daag and Nazrana. For her performance in the flick Baadbaan she also won her very first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress in the following year, 1955. She quit films after the birth of her daughter however later made a comeback with a character role in the Hrishikesh Mukherjee directed Bawarchi. Chupke Chupke, Mili, Patita and Kabuliwala are other prominent films in which Usha Kiran enacted. Some of the famous Marathi films of her career include Kanyadaan, Stree Janma Hi Tuzi Kahani, Dudh Bhakar, Postatli Mulgi, Jasach Tase, Shikleli Bayko, Kanchanganga and Gariba Gharchi Lek. For her remarkable performance in the film Kanyadaan she won the Maharashtra Government`s award for best actress. She had acted alongside many renowned actors of the film industry such as Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, Rajendra Kumar, Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor and others.

Personal Life of Usha Kiran
Usha Kiran was married to Dr. Manohar Kher since the year 1954 and the couple had two children Adwait and Tanvi. Her daughter Tanvi Azmi is one of the popular actresses of the Hindi films and television. Usha Kiran had authored her biography titled Ush-kal.

Death of Usha Kiran
Usha Kiran died on March 9, 2000 in Nashik at the age of 70 due to cancer.
