Introduction
Nandita Puri is a celebrated Kathak dancer and television actress from the Jaipur Gharana, widely recognized for her expressive performances and deep commitment to the Guru–Shishya Parampara. Nandita Puri was born in Chandigarh and has completed her graduation in Psychology and Ancient Indian Culture. She began her formal dance training in Chandigarh before moving to Mumbai to study under the acclaimed Padmashree Dr. Roshan Kumari. Alongside her accomplishments in acting, Puri actively works to promote classical arts in Chandigarh through the organization established by her parents.

Nandita Puri is an extremely talented woman, making her mark
both as a Kathak
dancer and an actress in Indian television.
She was interested in dance from a tender age and after completing her
schooling she received formal training in dance. For a span of one-year she was
trained with Guru Shankaar Dev Jha. Soon after that she came to Mumbai to be
trained in the school of the famous Dr. Padmashree Roshan Kumari of the Jaipur Gharana
who caste a total inspiration on her. She was trained under the traditional
Guru Shishya Parampara as a result of which she has imbibed grace and rhythm
and also showed a sensitive approach to the aesthetics of Kathak. Nandita
Puri is also into choreography and has also choreographed dance sequences for
the music video of Peenaz Masani for Vinay Dhumale.

She also acted in a number of television serials such as “Naya Zamana,” “Karz,” “Chamatkar,” “Sailab,” “Jung,” “Chattan,” “Daraar,” “Aashirwad,” “Lakshya,” “Vishwaas,” “Itihaas” and many more. But the biggest feather added to her hat of success was the film Sardari Begum. Her very dear colleague at her dance school called ‘Mukta Joshi’ helped her in the choreography of the dance sequences for Smriti Mishra and Surekha Sikhri. They have also worked with the likes of the great filmmaker Shyam Benegal that was an experience by itself. She is not very keen in dancing in films so she has kept herself engaged in this grand form of art by imparting training in the dance institute ‘Sangeet Mahabharati’ in the tinsel town. She also performs at shows in the famous caves of Ajanta and Ellora.
Her soft looks have gained her positive roles in television soaps with which she is very content. Her acting career provided the financial stability needed to pursue her passion for dance. She played the character of a mother of the main protagonist in the serial called “Maayka,” which aired on Zee TV and another serial named “Sanskar” on DD. This immensely talented woman has carved out a niche for herself in the hearts of her fan following with her multi-faceted persona. She has earned widespread recognition in the entertainment industry for her role as Mrs. Oberoi in the 2004 film "Madhoshi" and for playing the character of Hemlvati in the 1993 fictional detective TV series "Byomkesh Bakshi." Her character as Kareena's Mother in the famous TV series "Kareena Kareena" has also earned her lots of acclaim.

Nandita Puri won the `Government of India Scholarship` under
‘Scholarship to Young Workers’ in different cultural fields in the year
1982-83. She performs kathak both in India and abroad. She also holds the titled
of ‘Nritya Prabhakar’ and ‘Praveen’ from “Prayag Sangeet Samiti” of Allahabad.
Her mother Smt. Primla Puri is also a famous classical singer and often
provides vocal support to her dance performance.

her sister carry forward their parents’ legacy by promoting classical arts,
including music and dance, through the family-founded organization. She is also
