Danavas are the enemies of Gods. They are the descendants of Kashyapa by his wife Danu. Danu was the daughter of Prajapati Daksha. Danavas are not capable of steadiness and vigorous by ambition.
Origin of Danavas
Danavas are a class of mythological giants. These Danavas belong to the Epic period. They were probably personifications of the Aborigines of India in the Puranic period. Danavas are regarded as the inhabitant of Patala and enemies of the Gods. The Danavas were not universally considered to be evil, individual Danava could be classified as good or bad.
Legend of Danavas
Once, the Danavas tried to show their strength against the Gods. Under the leadership of Bali and others, the Danavas revolted against the Devas. Despite initial successes, the Danavas were defeated by the God Vamana who in dwarf form deceived their leader Bali. After their defeat, the Danavas were cast into the deepest oceans and locked there forever by Lord Indra.
