Chhora of the Durgapur subdivision is located on the way to Pandaveswar in Bardhaman District of West Bengal.Chhora is surrounded by Tapasi on its west and Andal on its south.The other towns in its neighbourhood are Raniganj,Siarsol and Ukhra.This town is well connected to other places by air as well as by rail.The closest airport is the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.Raniganj Railway Station on the Howrah -Asansol line of the Eastern Railways is the nearest railway station.
This region is composed of latterite soil and the region falls between two mighty rivers ,the Damodar and the Ajay.The region was covered with dense forest and after the discovery of coal industrialisation started and consequently the forests were cleared .It is the coal mining zone.
According to the 2001 census report, Chhora had a population of 12,839 where males constitute 55% of the population and females 45% of the population.13% of the population is less than six years of age .The town has a literacy rate of 51% which is lower than the national average of 59.5% .The male literacy rate is 60% and female literacy rate is 40%.Chhora has three primary schools and one higher secondary school.
