Bodgeshwar Temple, GoaBodgeshwar temple is located near Mapusa at about 12 kms from Panaji. The temple is positioned in a lush green environment just outside the Mapusa city. It is dedicated to Kanakeshwar Baba or Bodgeshwar, locally known as Bongini.

Bodgeshwar is regarded as `Angavani` which means to one to whom vows are made and who fulfils the desires of the worshipers. Hence there is a strong belief among devotes that all their prayers bestowed on him will be fulfilled. It is for this purpose that thousands of devotees flock to this temple. They also offer presents to the God as a token of reverence as promised by them on fulfilment of their wishes.

The festival of the God Kanakeshwar Baba is usually celebrated during the months of December and January at the Shree Dev Bodgeshwar Temple. An annual fair or `Zatra` is celebrated during the festival. During this time the temple is thronged by both locals and the tourists alike. According to some, the city of Mapusa developed into a flourishing market centre because of the Bodgeshwar festival.
