Bilpahari

Bilpahari is a town of the Barddhaman district in West Bengal.

Bilpahari is a census town situated in the Barddhaman district of the Durgapur subdivision in West Bengal under the jurisdiction of the Pandaveswar police station. The main town of the district is Bardhaman. The district spreads over an area of 7024 sq km, and has a total population of 6,895,514 (as per the 2001 census).

It is surrounded on the north by the Birbhum and the Murshidabad districts, on the east by the Nadia District, on the southeast by the Hooghly District, on the southwest by the Bankura and the Purulia districts, and on the northwest by the state of Jharkhand. The district is divided into six sub-divisions, namely Asansol Sadar (North), Sadar (South), Durgapur, Kalna, and Katwa. It is one of the districts to have a 100% literacy rate.

The town of Bilpahari is home to 7786 people, as revealed in the 2001 census, with 55% males, 45% females and 15% children. Among the males 62% are literate while among the females, 42% are literate. This leads to a mean literacy rate of 53%, which is lower than the nationwide standard of 59.5%.
