Bhensrod Garh Sanctuary

Bhensrod Garh Sanctuary, in Rajasthan, is a comparatively newly established wildlife refuge which is the home to several endangered species of flora and fauna.

Bhensrod Garh Sanctuary, Chittorgarh District, RajasthanBhensrod Garh Sanctuary, situated in the Chittorgarh district of the Indian state Rajasthan, is the home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna. It lies 55 kilometres towards the west of Kota on the eastern bank of Chambal River and encompasses an area of 229 square kilometres. It is drained by the tributaries of Chambal River. The place also hosts the confluence of Bemany and Chambal rivers. This is also a major reason for the assemblage of diverse wildlife. It is a comparatively new member in the group of wildlife refuges in India which hosts a number rare and endangered species of flora and fauna. Bhensrod Garh Sanctuary was established in the year 1983. Numerous precious archaeological artefacts have been excavated from this region and have been displayed here.

Flora and Fauna of Bhensrod Garh Sanctuary
Bhensrod Garh Sanctuary is an exquisite wildlife refuge which shelters a number of wild animals. Prominent species which can be spotted here include Spotted Deer, Fox, Jackal, Hyena, Leopard, Sloth Bear and many more. Avian population of the sanctuary is also quite fascinating. The main vegetation of the sanctuary comprises dry deciduous and scrub forest.

Visiting Information
Bhensrod Garh Sanctuary is best visited between the period of September and May. The nearest railways station and airport are situated at Kota. Bhensrod Garh Fort situated nearby is an added attraction which stands amid picturesque surroundings and dates back to 14th century. The ancient temple of Gaipar Nath Mahadev is also located close by making it an ideal picnic spot.
