Bhalki Fort

Bhalki Fort is located in the state of Karnataka, which was built between 1820 and 1850. Most of the parts of the fort have now been ruined.

Bhalki Fort, KarnatakaBhalki Fort is located in the Bhakli town of Karnataka, which houses several buildings like Satyaniketan School, Kumbheshwar (Ganesh) Temple etc. The fort is locally known as "Gadi", which means fort in Kannada and Marathi languages. According to the historians, the fort was built between 1820-1850 by Ramachandra Jadhav and Dhanaji Jadhav. Bhalki Fort is 7 meters long and covers 5 acres of land. There are open wells inside the fort campus and a small pond outside it. Bhalki Fort was made out of the mixture of black stones and home-made lime grout.

History of Bhalki Fort
Bhalki Fort played a significant role during the Indian Rebellion War of 1857. According to the historians, King Jang Bahadur upraised against the British people and created an army of about 1500 individuals in Bhalki Fort. He recruited several soldiers to defeat the British Army so that he can regain his lost dynasty of Satara.

Bhalki Railway Station and Nanded Airport are the nearest to reach the fort. National Highway 50 connects Bhalki town to other cities of India.
