He began his career in Bollywood as an actor, but could not garner much success. He later achieved success as a producer. He was born on 24 June 1970 in Delhi to a Hindu Brahmin family.

Career of Atul Agnihotri
Atul Agnihotri stepped into the Hindi film industry as a child actor in the year 1983 and made a brief appearance in the film Pasand Apni Apni. As an adult, his career began in the year 1993 with Mahesh Bhatt directed Bollywood flick Sir. Subsequently he acted in many more flicks throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. During this phase, his most noteworthy films included Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, Aatish and Krantiveer. His other films like Sanam Teri Kasam, Jaani Dushman, Hote Hote Pyar Ho Gaya, Yeh Aashiquie Meri, Khote Sikkey, Chachi 420, Jeevan Yudh, Bambai Ka Babu, Yeshwant, Naaraaz etc could not earn much success at the box office.

Atul Agnihotri later turned to film direction and his debut directional venture was the Bollywood flick Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa in the year 2004, featuring his brother-in-law Salman Khan, Preity Zinta and Bhoomika Chawla in lead roles. He also authored the story for the film. His second directorial film Hello released in 2008 in which his brother-in-law Sohail Khan, Sharman Joshi and Isha Koppikar appeared in lead roles. He also turned producer with the same film. The movie was based on the novel One Night @ Call Center written by Chetan Bhagat but it could not garner commercial success. He later produced Bodyguard which marked to be a blockbuster. His film Jai Ho in 2014 entered the 100 crore club. He also produced O Teri in the same year under the direction of debutant Umesh Bhisht and starring Pulkit Samrat and Sarah-Jane Dias.

Personal Life of Atul Agnihotri
Atul Agnihotri is married to Alvira Khan, daughter of scriptwriter Salim Khan. The couple has two children Ayaan and Alizeh. Bollywood actors Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan are his brothers-in-law. Actress Rati Agnihotri is his cousin.
