She was in fact the ultimate Indian symbol of the `sweet sixteen` romance when she has hit the silver screen at the tender age of sixteen. She worked in a number of Hindi-Urdu, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada movies.

Early Life of Rati Agnihotri
This extremely talented actress was born on 10th December in the year 1960 and hails from a Punjabi family settled in Mumbai. She belongs to a very traditional family but still she was allowed to model at the tender age of 10. She got enrolled in the Good Shepherd`s Convent School in Tamil Nadu and participated in the school play. There the famous Tamil film`s director Bharathiraja spotted her.

Career of Rati Agnihotri
At the age of 16 she made her appearance in the Tamil film `Pudhiya Varpukal` in the year 1979 and the film topped the charts for a long span. Rati starred in Bharathiraja`s second film `Niram Marada Pukkal` in the same year. Though she was a Punjabi the South Indian audience with much warmth and affection gladly accepted her. Following that she worked with almost all the superstars of the South Indian film industry. In the year she also appeared in the Tamil blockbuster `Maro Charithra`. She also starred the hit film `Ek Dujhe Ke Liye`.

This film went to capture the emotions of the whole nation. Other major hits of Rati Agnihotri include `Shaukeen`, `Coolie`, `Farz Aur Kanoon`, `Hukumat` and `Tawaif`. She starred in less that 50 Hindi films but she has worked with almost all the top filmmakers of the Indian subcontinent including B.R.Chopra, Yash Chopra, Manmohan Desai, Shakti Samanta, Dev Anand, Nasir Hussain, Basu Chatterjee and Ravi Tandon.

Personal Life of Rati Agnihotri
Rati tied the knot with her real life love Anil Virwani who is an architect and businessman in the year 1985 and decided to quit the world of films at the time when she was at the peak of her career. Today she is the proud mother of her only son Tanuj.

Comeback of Rati Agnihotri
After a break of 15 years she was again successfully convinced by director Rahul Rawail to return to the silver screen and she teamed with Rishi Kapoor to play the mother of twin daughters (played by Kajol) in the film `Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi` which was remake of the film `The Parent Trap`. She then acted in a number of movies such as Yaadein (2001), Anyar (2003), An Ode to Lost Love (2003) and Aaina-te (2008).

This versatile actress got Filmfare Nomination as Best Actress for Ek Duje Ke Liye (1981) and for Tawaif (film) (1985).
